Dr. Josette Pelatan is a filmmaker, interdisciplinary scholar, and founder of JosetteXMP Productions LLC, creating bold, truth-driven work at the intersection of storytelling, resilience, and social impact. Her current creative focus is on developing and crowdfund-supporting her two flagship projects—The Prostitute’s Daughter and the documentary Homeless with a PhD—both deeply personal films that transform lived experience into powerful cinematic narratives about survival, identity, and systemic inequality.An emerging voice in socially engaged filmmaking, she draws from her lived experience navigating rare disease, housing insecurity, and educational barriers to challenge dominant narratives about who gets to create, lead, and be seen.
